Week 4:Ch. 4 -The Marketing Environment

Because iPhone targets consumers like students, professionals, health care workers, corporate users and entrepreneurs that want to communicate, store information and have entertainment on the go, the iPhone shows that it had way more to offer. Not only is the iPhone one of the most modern phones to contain but it is also the top and fastest selling phone. It has features from many other cell phones all together in one.
The attraction for the consumers to buy the iPhone is because:
- It is easy to use. The all touch screen phone can accomplish so many things in one single touch.
- iPhone are compatible with other Apple products such as iTunes, Apple   TV and much other Apple software.
- The price is affordable for every one. And their plan start at $199 for a new two-year contract, no one could even resist on passing up on buying one of the new iPhone from AT&T and VERIZON.

More clues point to iPhone Nano debut

Sources say the new device is intended to be sold alongside the current line of iPhones
Is there a smaller, cheaper version of the iPhone on the way? Rumor abound, but now the Wall Street Journal has found "people familiar with the matter" who have actually laid hands and eyes upon it: "One of the people, who saw a prototype of a new iPhone several months ago, said the new device is intended to be sold alongside the current line of iPhones and would be about half the size of the iPhone 4. The phone, one of its codenames is N97, would be available to mobile carriers at about half the price of Apple's main line of iPhones, the person said."
According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple's also considering making its MobileMe online storage service free, allowing users to store their data in the cloud rather than on a small device such as an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad.
This move could facilitate a smaller iPhone, which could store most of its data elsewhere rather than within its tiny confines. When will we see such a tiny iPhone, reportedly one-third smaller than its bigger brother, and costing $200 with no contract,  The WSJ sources are saying this summer, which is right in line with the usual time new iPhones are unveiled.

Week2:Ch. 2 - Strategic Planning for Competitive Advantage

IPhone 4 is master plan to target consumers that like to have entertainment on the go. Those that need to store important information or just want to communicate. Apple's target segments consist of corporate users, entrepreneurs, professionals, students, and health care workers. Few people want video, Internet, and PDA features in one device because of the high prices. Since the smart phone market is low compared to the general phone market, the market will increase rapidly in coming years due to lower prices and greater power.
